LEEUWRIVIER ESTATE

VINE NURSERY & FUNCTION VENUE

ABOUT

This beautiful Boland farm is situated at the foot of the majestic Hawequa Mountain range. It is only an hour's drive from Cape Town and about 3 km outside the rural town of Wellington.

Leeuwrivier is one of the oldest wine farms in the Wellington district. The Smit and Kruger families, who are presently living on the farm, are direct descendants of the first Malan family who emigrated from France. The farm was originally bought by Daniël Malan in 1766.

The present family is the eighth generation on the farm and proudly practices the art of vine grafting and has established a function venue in a lovingly restored barn. The old farmhouse boasts a lovely garden which is ideal for ceremonies, baby showers, etc.

VINE NURSERY

The art of vine grafting has been plied by this family since 1912 when Manie Smit's father, Pieter Daniël Smit, grafted the first commercial vines on Leeuwrivier.

Today we believe that with our experience and expertise, we can supply the best quality vines.

We concentrate on quality rather than quantity and guarantee personal service through advice and assistance year after year!

FUNCTION VENUE

This unique Cape Dutch venue is situated just beneath the majestic Hawequa mountain range, and boasts breathtaking views of the rolling vineyards and a colourful English garden.

This romantic countryside venue is suited to a wide range of events, including wedding ceremonies in the tranquil garden followed
by a reception in our uniquely styled hall.

The hall can accommodate 200 guests with a dance floor or 240 guests without.
